Dracaena Vase

Medium: Hand-thrown vase of white stoneware, with a burnished terra sigillata surface. Vase then blackened by saggar-smoke firing. Then the vase is overlaid, glued and stitched with the natural, unaltered leaf base of the "Dragon Tree", the Dracaena Draco.

FALLING WATER

Medium: A lidded box bearing a sculpture created from debris from Japanese tsunami of 2011. Cast into a custom made mold using iron infused concrete, then ground to a smooth patina, sealed with Tung Oil.

FURUI O - Old King

Medium: An elliptically shaped vessel partially deconstructed. The piece has been cast, built up and honed The armature of woven rusted wire demonstrates the fading and decomposition of a facade. The vintage Japanese Yakiin brand is the character for "old".

Golden Nest Basket

Medium: Coiled and stitched basket of dyed Lecheguilla, the fiber found in the leaf of the Spanish Dagger Agave. The dried fiber is originally pale blonde, and takes rich color wonderfully.

Medium: Hand-thrown and altered stoneware teapot, overlaid after firing with torn fragments of handmade Japanese papers, and collage of paper, digital prints of autumn leaves, and real skeletal leaves of the Bodhi Tree. Handle of twisted Red River Willow

STEEL BURL MESQUITE

Medium: Live edge burl mesquite top with hand rubbed oil finish. Tree base handcrafted from metal pipe, tubing and rod. Branches taper. Tree is welded, ground torched and then polished and 4 coat lacquer finish. Hot applied patina on plate of base.

Medium: A functional sculpture which has been cast as well as laid up over a steel armature. A combination of steel and iron grids gives the skeletal portion of the sculpture a formidable weight that both competes with and compliments the mass of the concrete.
