Boxelder Vessel

Medium: Carved free-hand. Material sourced by artist from locally fallen tree. Underside has three carved feet to ensure vessel will not rock and also features a black aniline dye to reinforce the profile and separate the piece from the display surface.

Medium: Hand carved from redwood beam, acrylic paint, collaged with vintage cannery labels, fish are gilded with palladium leaf

Medium: this is the natural color of pink ivory from so. african. wood of the zulu kings this hollow form is turned twice to remove distortion that happens during drying.high gloss finish. the finial is pink ivory cube pierced 6 times with a captured palm nut

Character of a White Oak

Medium: The White Oak bowl was turned, carved, sandblasted and bleached many many times, then finished with waterborne spray lacquer. The base, also white oak, was turned, carved, severely burned, selectively sandblasted and finished with an oil based finish.

Cottonwood Les Petites Filles

Medium: Free-hand carved from a single piece. Material sourced by artist from a locally fallen tree. Mounted on steel backs which feature a patina developed by artist. Adjacent edges share profiles to enhance flow. Backs are relief carved to ensure stability.

Entwined Fortuity

Medium: Madrone, Yellow Cedar, Maple and found stone. It is turned, hollowed, carved by rotary carver, power carver wood burner and hand chisels. Finally dyed black and painted with fluid acrylic paints. Yellow Cedar egg and Maple nucleus with gold guilding.

Five Elements

Medium: Free-hand carved American Elm. Segmented, facing surfaces finely sanded, and re-joined with steel rod. Hand-wrought steel staples mend the deliberately forced curing cracks. Presented on a steel stand with dark patina.

The Mystique of Perception

Medium: Turned and hollowed Madrone. Carved by rotary carver, power carver and wood burner. Refined with hand chisels. It was then dyed black and painted with fluid acrylic paints. The rim was turned Maple, then dyed with black leather dye.
