Description:
Sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical, these mixed media constructions tell stories, reflect on the human condition and relay the ironies of life's situations. Materials used include pieces of scavenged paper, old photos, gesso, wax, drawing materials, paint, found objects, wood, etc. Each piece is usually in a shallow wood box which I either construct or find. Images and papers are collaged into the box and then worked into with charcoal, gesso, graphite, paint, etc. Found objects are often incorporated into the piece and attached by a variety of techniques including embedding in acrylic medium and paper clay, riveting, pegging and wiring. Each piece is usually covered with acrylic sheeting which is drilled and attached with nails.
