Felting is a magical metamorphosis that can turn the mundane into the magnificent. My knitted then felted clothing is warm, light weight, water resistant and beautifully textured. Each piece is unique due to the unpredictability of the process of felting. As I design the patterns I always try to keep in mind the weight and the drape of the cloth. I am especially mindful of function and comfort and in the beauty of the shape and cut. The knitted bindings and buttons are created for each garment. The needle felted patterning that seems to have been painted onto the surface of the cloth individualizes each piece. I work with a knitting machine to create the cloth and the bindings for these garments. After 25 years as a craftsperson I continue to find delight in production work.
