My functional textile pieces for the wall & bed are built using fabrics that range from my own painted canvases to blueprinted silks to century-old Japanese kasuri cottons to the latest Indonesian batiks. As with traditional quilts, they are layered & embellished with as much variety as possible, making them dense with texture & color. These pieces evoke tradition & craftsmanship while exploring modern materials. Abstract & angular, they are nevertheless seductively saturated & tactile. They are also affordable despite their size – I want my work in as many homes as possible.
