Fiber - OtherDescription:
We start with our willow, we gather when the sap is down and then keep it frozen for later use. We begin a vessel at the bottom joining the willow spokes and weaving and separating them with our dyed rattan, often using 3 rod wailing technique and tapestry weave, we create forms that are unique to our body of work. We often attach an aspen branch or antler which has been drilled with a series of holes for the willow to go up into, creating a very solid attachment. Our willow is a wild sandbar willow, and our rattans are dyed with an excellent fiber reactive dye and the completed piece is sprayed with a sealant with UV block.
