Description:
In 2005, after years of being a production potter, I went to my studio and began to sculpt a figure. As pieces came to life, I realized that I had things to say, stories to tell. I can see the influence and power of the old myths and architypes in my work, but I also see the universality of the human experience…. my experience. I work coil by coil, adding clay, paddling and shaping; letting intuition be my guide. Sometimes a shape comes to mind and brings with it it’s own story, but often times a story comes and calls out it’s own shape. The living nature pottery clay and how it moves has a welcome influence on the forms and feels like a collaboration to me.
