SculptureDescription:
Each piece starts with an idea, a phrase or a story. From this spark I decide how the piece can be represented visually; if it is better suited to be slab or coil built, and how much or little detail I can include to carry the message. The concept may change as I construct the piece and as I think about the surface. Most of shape of the piece is done by pushing and shaping from the inside out. I sketch a bit not he service by incising into the lay. The glazes and firing I use encourages crazing. A black overglaze is added between firings and sprayed off emphasizes cracking and sketching and adds to the depth of the piece.
