Description:
My paintings are populated with people, animals, plants, household objects, and more which all exist within the bounds of the painting, in a balanced and interactive world. Sometimes visual gravity is present, and sometimes it isn\\\'t. The degree of realism the inhabitants of the painting possess varies, in color and in form. There is often an almost folk art quality about my work. I also make smaller paintings which have more singular subjects, such as faces or houses. Recently, themes of home and stability have been prevalent. I paint on wood panel or canvas. I paint in fairly thin layers, using washes to create dimension and warmth. I then varnish with glossy, high quality art varnish, and frame in wood painted with black satin finish oil based paint.
