Description:

Batik on cotton fabric. I use traditional tjanting tools and brushes to apply various mixtures of paraffin and local beeswax to the fabric. There are over 100 hours of waxwork per piece. I mix fiber reactive and natural dyes, dyeing each piece more than 30 separate times. There are small bits of other batiks from the series sewn on as details. Each piece is original and framed using archival materials under museum glass.
